    Our Story Begins

    Alan Walters and Bryan Haynes founded Clean Earth Books with a mission to give used books a second life and keep them out of landfills.

    First Storage Unit

    We took our first step toward growth by leasing a small storage unit to store and organize donated books.

    Expanding Into Our First Warehouse

    In early 2010, we leased our first 2,000 sq ft warehouse, allowing us to store more books and operate more efficiently.

    Bigger Space, Bigger Vision

    We expanded our warehouse space and began buying books in bulk, setting the stage for faster growth and greater impact.

  5. 2013

    First Conveyor Processing Line Installed

    We installed our first conveyor processing line, streamlining how books moved through our facility.

  6. 2014

    Massive Leap and New Capabilities

    We moved into a 100,000 sq ft facility and began shredding books that could not be reused, furthering our sustainability mission.

    One Million Books Rehomed

    Our community and partners helped us reach the incredible milestone of one million books given a second life.

  8. 2017

    Fine-Tuning and a New Home

    We fine-tuned our processes and moved into our current 75,000 sq ft warehouse space to support even greater efficiency. After 10 years of a successful partnership, Bryan Haynes left the company to pursue other interests.

    We launched our Book Donation Bin Program to expand our outreach and make donating books easier for communities.

    10M+ Books Rehomed, 100M+ Pounds Recycled

    We reached two incredible milestones: over 10 million books rehomed and more than 100 million pounds of books recycled and diverted from landfills.

Clean Earth Books was founded in 2008 with a simple mission: to give every book a second chance and keep them out of landfills. Over the years, our work has rehomed more than 10 million books and recycled over 100 million pounds of unwanted books. Less waste. More readers. A cleaner planet.
